In my opinion, teaching provides an opportunity for continual learning and growth. One of my hopes as an educator is to become the seed of love of learning in my students, as I share my own passion for learning with them. I feel there is a need for compassionate, strong, and dedicated individuals who are excited about working with children. In our competitive society it is important for students to not only receive a solid education, but to work with someone who is aware of and sensitive to their individual needs. I am such a person and will always try to be the best educator that I can be for my students to see them grow and succeed; not only as students, but as a better person every new day.
I believe that when the voice of each student is heard, and environment evolves where students feel more comfortable and they feel free to express themselves. Class meetings and team work are some of the ways to encourage such communication and leads to this environment.
I have heard before, “Getting things done is not always what is most important. There is value in allowing others to learn, even if the task is not accomplished as quickly, efficiently or effectively." -- R.D. Clyde. This statement results very powerful to me, since I believe each and every child has the potential to bring something unique and special to the class, and we all together will learn from each other showing our different and special abilities and helping each other.
Every classroom presents a unique community of learners that varies not only in abilities, but also in learning styles; and my goal is to be able to meet each one of my student’s different needs in and outside of the classroom.
I will be that teacher that has her old students come back and say “Thank you Ms., you helped me to change my perspectives, my ideas, and my world in a more positive way”.
